Roma will be buoyed by the threat they’ve carried in attack though. Abraham, in particular, has been a handful for Juventus and could play a major role in the second half.

Kean’s goal gives Juventus a slender lead at the break. Roma started well and had chances to take the lead through Pellegrini and Mancini. But Juventus grew into the game and took the lead when Bentancur’s header bounced off Kean and beyond Patricio. Roma continued to put the hosts under pressure though and eventually won a penalty for their efforts on the stroke of half time. Veretout’s spot-kick was saved by Szczesny though, ensuring that Juventus retained their lead going into the interval.

44′ It wasn’t a bad penalty from Veretout. He hit it firmly towards the bottom corner, but Szczesny guessed the right way and then executed the perfect dive to keep it out.

44′ SZCZESNY SAVES IT! It was a long wait for Veretout, who finally stepped up and fired his spot-kick towards the bottom right corner, only for Szczesny to push it wide!

41′ Penalty to Roma! It’s a brilliant move from the visitors. Abraham dances past both Bonucci and Chiellini, before Danilo slides in and nudges the ball to Mkhitaryan inside the six-yard box. Mkhitaryan dinks it over Szczesny, but gets swept over by the goalkeeper and the referee awards a penalty! Abraham had knocked it into the net just after the whistle, which is sure to cause controversy if Roma fail to capitalise now.

40′ Roma hit Juventus on the break. Abraham drives almost 40 yards to get into the box, but Danilo recovers at the crucial moment to knock it behind. The resulting set-piece comes to nothing.

38′ Chance! Vina breaks away down the left before curling in an early cross in search of Abraham. The striker gets there ahead of Bonucci but can only direct his eight-yard header straight at Szczesny.

13′ Bonucci gets winded by Zaniolo’s powerful strike. There’s a brief delay for the defender to gather his breath, but he should be okay to continue.

9′ Close! Roma sweep forward again. This time Zaniolo rides a few challenges before picking out Pellegrini. The attacker shoots from 20 yards but it deflects off Chiellini before looping narrowly over. The resulting set-piece amounts to nothing.

7′ Chance! Pellegrini whips in a free-kick towards the back post, and it’s met by an unmarked Mancini! The defender heads it towards the near post, but Szczesny is there to push it away to safety.

5′ Abraham swivels on the edge of the box, before Bonucci blocks his strike. The ball falls to Karsdorp who’s fouled by De Sciglio near the touchline. 

3′ Veretout drives forward and searches for the run of Abraham, but Chiellini stretches to cut it out.

Roma might be wary of their poor recent record against Juventus though. Juventus have won nine of their 10 Serie A games played at the Allianz Stadium against Roma, losing the other.

Roma, meanwhile, make just two changes. Darboe is replaced by Cristante in midfield, while Chris Smalling drops out of the squad with Ibanez coming into the starting lineup.

Juventus make four changes to the side that beat Torino last time out in the league. Alex Sandro, Matthijs de Ligt, Mckennie and Adrien Rabiot all drop out with Bonucci, De Sciglio, Bentancur and Cuadrado coming in.
